
Tibs Dumi is a dynamic and charismatic observational comedian whose high-energy performances leave audiences consistently entertained. Drawing from his experiences growing up as a black child in a predominantly white suburb, Tibs delivers sharp, relatable commentary on identity, contradiction, and modern social dynamics, blending personal storytelling with incisive humour.
He has shared the stage with some of South Africa’s premier comedy acts. Tibs has opened for two of comedian Rory Petzer’s one-man comedy specials and has served as host for three of Robby Collins’ one-man shows. He has also performed alongside Schalk Bezuidenhout at his Christmas Special at the Sneddon Theatre.
His standout career highlight includes featuring in the Comedy Central–filmed special Kill or Die at the Savanna Durban Summer Comedy Festival in 2016. He later appeared on Vuzu Amp’s Savanna Newcomers Showcase in 2017.
In 2018, Tibs co-created and performed in the acclaimed two-man show Not Funny Enough to BEE alongside comedian Muza Zondi, which enjoyed a successful run at the Heat City Comedy Festival.
Beyond stand-up comedy, Tibs is an accomplished filmmaker and actor with an honours degree in Directing and Screenwriting. His short films Ekhaya and Little Bump in the Road both premiered at Ster-Kinekor Gateway. Little Bump in the Road went on to receive a nomination for a Simon “Mabhunu” Sabela Award for Best Short Film, further cementing his versatility as a storyteller across multiple mediums.
