The charming and charismatic Tibs Dumi is an eccentric, high-energy, observational comedian who leaves audiences in stitches as he explores his childhood growing up black in a white suburb. Not only does he discuss the contradictions he faced in a relatable nature, but he adds stimulating and hilarious commentary on the trends that society faces today.
He has had the honour of sharing the stage with greats like Carvin H Goldstone, Robby Collins, Schalk Bezuidenhourt, Loyiso Madinga, Neil Green and many more.
His favourite accomplishment to date was featuring in the Comedy Central filmed special ‘Kill or Die’ as part of the Savanna Durban Summer Comedy Festival 2016. He has also featured on Vuzu Amp in the Savannah Newcomers Showcase in 2017. His two-man show with comedian Muza Zondi, ‘Not Funny Enough to BEE’, was a huge success at the 2018 Heat City Comedy Festival.
His skills do not stop at comedy; he is also passionate filmmaker and actor by day, with an honours degree in Directing and Screenwriting. His most notable achievements as a writer and director come from his two short films, ‘Ekhaya’ and ‘Little Bump in the Road’, both of which premiered at Ster-Kinekor at Gateway; and the latter was Nominated for a Simon ’Mabhunu’ Sabela for “Best Short Film”.
